There are thousands of children in S. Africa that have become orphans when their parent(s) have died of AIDS (~40% of the S. African population is thought to have AIDS). The stigma attached to AIDS is so strong that often no one will take care of these kids.
Lula is one of a few care centers in eastern South Africa that provide education, food and medicine for the kids. Some of these kids have AIDS too. It's a fairly small operation, but has become increasingly well known because they are making impacts that S. African government agencies and other relief organizations have failed to make.
