Details. The Taj is more amazing close up than viewed in its entirety, but then again, the Taj viewed in its entirety is more amazing than close up, but then....
it takes a concerted effort to actually see the detail in the Taj. it's all around; viciously in your face, yet invisible. one has to divorce themselves from the grandeur of the entirety and just focus on the inlaid stones, the intricate carvings, the geometric shapes. You have to stoop down, and strain your neck upwards until you almost fall backwards on the cool, smooth marble floor. It took me several days of walking around the Taj to actually begin to see the details and allow it to impact me at the "Taj in its entirety" level.
