i had visited deir al-bhari and the west bank 2
days before but it was in the middle of the day and the light was awful.
so this morning i rented a bike, rode to the nile, crossed (in ali baba below),
and rode another few kilometers to be the first one at the temple. first
light made all the difference as it softened up the images and brought the rocks
alive.

all that's left of a temple that was once bigger than karnak.
