mother of all egyptian museums... or should i say "mummy of all" :-) (sorry,
couldn't resist) hopefully the age-old bad pun won't take away from these
amazing...or great, or good, or nearly good, or not so shabby pictures, or not
very good....anyway.

found in his tomb. weighing over 11kg of solid gold, this was placed over
the mummy's head

sarcophagus of king tut. this is one of three arranged like russian dolls.

vulture protection
despite the perception amongst westerners that
vultures are ugly, the ancient egyptians found them to be an auspicious symbol

the mask


piercing gaze (left ear lobe aspect)
his right ear is pierced too.
i should be a pharaoh.. anyway... they believed that the death mask should look
exactly like the dead king, so they pierced the ears and buried the king wearing
ear-rings.
