Veliko Tarnovo

Veliko Tārnovo is a shinning jewel in the crown of Bulgaria's many historic sights.  Home to 22 consecutive rulers in the 12th-14th centuries, Veliko lies on the banks of the Yantra river.  The gorge cut by the river gives rise to steep hills on which the city precariously sits.
