As if Bansko didn't have enough to offer already, Pirin National Park is just minutes away in the towering Bulgarian mountains.

While you could hike up, most people prefer to
save their time and their legs by taking a ski-lift up to base of where the
mountains really start. This fly-fisher enjoys the scenery during the
20 minute ride through fall's changing colors. |

The chair lift drops you off at the base of this lake. To go higher is where the hiking comes in... and the real fun. Fluent in French and English, this amiable Bulgarian tour guide enjoys the view as she shows trekkers an amazing day in the high country. |
| And what is the payment for all your physical
exerstion? Stunning panoramic views and some of the freshest air
you'll ever breathe should be ample enough rewards. |

| The island in the middle of this mountain lake is
a perfect picnic spot, you only have to swim out to reach it! For
those who prefer to stay dry, perhaps the side of lake is just as good. |

Now that you've climbed one of the tallest peaks
in Bulgaria, and have made it back to "base camp" why not sit back and enjoy
