Located about 30 miles north of Varna, Balchik is a relatively undiscovered beach town offering visitors a more realistic peak into Black Sea coast life.

Melnik is known for its dramatic white cliffs that plunge into the Black Sea.

It's quiet and peaceful despite being less than 10 miles from the biggest resorts in Bulgaria's Black Sea coast where the package tours go.

Besides the small amount of tourism Balchik sees, fishing is another economic mainstay.
